This is Peru´s only
coastal reservation. With a surface area of 335,000 hectares (804,000
acres), stretching from the Paracas peninsula up to Morro Quemado
headland, the reservation protects the abundant sea fauna dwelling
there: sea lions, cetaceans, turtles, chungungos and more than 200
bird species. In addition, there are important archeological remains
of the Paracas culture; famous for its polychrome shawls made with
camel wool and cotton.
