These two beautiful lagoons are located in a narrow glacial valley, protected by the Huascarán and Huandoy Mounts of the Cordillera Blanca (White Muontain Range), forming part of the Huascarán Biosphere Reservation. On the banks of the first lagoon, Chinancocha (female lagoon), there are lush forests of queñuals. The second lagoon, Orconcocha (male lagoon), is at the end of the valley, and it is smaller. It is very windy and cold, so you should bring warm clothes.
